PTA 2013.. We've been BUSY!!

So far this academic year, we've organised some fabulous fun events for families at Cookridge. Since the amazing Christmas Fair, we've enjoyed a Magic Show, the Easter disco AND our first ever movie night... All brilliantly supported by you!

Without a doubt, the children LOVE the disco night! Not a single child can resist the bright lights and the big noise, the chance to glam up or dress down and boogie with friends...

There are some great moves on that dance floor!!

After being snowed off - our very first movie night was a great success last night. It turns out Mrs Herbert is a gifted popper of popcorn, and she produced enough of the stuff to satisfy over 100 children. That's a LOT of popping!

Enormous thank you to Mrs Herbert, Mrs Nixon, Mrs Land and Mrs Farrell, our 'Friends' who ensured last night went without a glitch, who sourced and served the 'tuck shop' goodies on disco night, and who manned the refreshments during the magic show. What a great team...

Thanks also to parents who are supporting these events. It's been simply brilliant to see you come along to the events with your children - we hope you've had fun?!

If you yourself think you can lend a hand to future events - please get in touch... Just a few hours is all it takes - and you just might have fun along the way!

Next meeting is at 6.30, Thursday 25th April. Come along... I'll put the kettle on!

Christmas Fayre 2012.. Big Success!

Tuesday's Christmas Fayre was a fabulous success! Thanks to everyone who was involved - setting up, manning stalls, bringing ideas, producing the crafts, thinking up games, decorating the grotto, clearing down.. You are ALL stars.

Thanks to everyone who came along and spent a penny or two on our stalls... It was wonderful to see so many people, and to see so many wonderful crafts, cards and gifts for sale. What talented kids we have!

The Reception stall earned the most profit on the day - and no wonder! WHO could resist these beautiful tree decorations?

These pom pom tree decs were quite a challenge! Class 5 should be recognised for their perseverance: it's a good job you are a patient bunch of people!

Welcome to Friends!

Our PTA group are Friends of Cookridge Primary School, for they work incredibly hard on an entirely voluntary basis to raise funds for our children. The funds raised by Friends pay for additional resources or provision that we would  - quite simply -  NOT be able to have if it were not for their hard work and dedication.. We all owe an enormous thank you to them for the hours they have all invested in our school!

Last year, our BIG project was raising funds to buy something for the playground. The children were consulted, and their choice was unanimous: a spiderweb climbing frame! It wasn't cheap but, together, we did it! Have a look at it in action in September - I have never seen so many delighted faces!

If you want to join our PTA group and do your bit for our school this year, please get in touch - more hands makes light work! We have big plans for the year ahead, and would be very grateful for your support. Our first meeting of the year is Tuesday 9th October at 6.30 and will be held in school in the community room, Funtime.
